Profile Personalize event called Multiple times

I am using Custom Profile and creating the profile in Profile_Personalize
event. I am also using sitemap. When a page has a menu control, then the
Profile_Personalize event is called 6 - 7 times per page. I am using default
providers for profile and sitemap.

I created a test project which has one aspx page, a sitemap and global.asax
file with this event and I inserted a debug poing at this event. The debugger
stopped at this event 7 times before rendering the page. Am I missing some
thing?

Thanks

It seems that this event is raised for every request (like images, css file),
not just aspx page. Is this by design or a bug. Anyone from Microsoft.
