noobie question. asp 2.0 site not using .master page in production enviornment

I have an asp.NET 2.0 webiste created in Visual Web Developer Express
using one of the Starter Kits. On my local machine the page works
perfectly. when I publish the site to the Web server, the page comes
up, but does not load the "Default.master" file. Is there a setting in
IIS that I am missing, or is it a coding problem?
Thanks
