Client-side scripting choice for ASP.NET?

I intended to learn ASP.NET without learning ASP.

What I need to learn in order to write Client-side scripting
for ASP.NET effectively? What's the most popular choice?

You're pretty much limited to two - JavaScript and VBScript.

VBScript only works in Microsoft IE, so virtually everyone uses JavaScript
for client-side scripting.
