Ideal Computer Specifications

I have been learning ASP.NET2 for about six weeks now, but as I get
more adventurous and knowledgeable, I find the time wasted waiting for
things to happen are now getting annoying.

So what would you consider a minimum specification. I do notice a lot
of disk activity, is that because of my lack of memory 512mb or only an
ordinary IDE interface. My processor unfortunately is only 850mhz.

I would like a laptop, is a DUO Core worth the extra.

Thanks for any advice.
