Testing permissions on a remote server

I have a site I'm hosting at Boundgrid.

My app can save some uploaded files to a directory no problem, but if it
tries to delete anything, I get prompted for a username/password.

Boundgrid support says that all permissions are already turned on by
default, so I guess it's an issue with my app. I'm not sure what, though. Do
I need to turn impersonation on? The app in question is secured via forms
based login.
