ASP.NET Development Server not functioning properly.

Hello all,
I've been scouring the web to try and figure out why this is happening,
but I can't find a solution. I spent four hours last night trying to
fix this problem but to no avail... I am pretty frustrated about
this... but anyway here is my problem:
I just installed VS.NET 2005 Pro on my fully updated Windows XP Pro OS.
I was using a regular HTML file to build the interface for my website
in a regular HTML file. The file uses extensive CSS and as such I have
two stylesheets.
I decided to move it on over to ASP.NET and built a master page. All my
Images are stored in the Images subdirectory under my website and my
stylesheets are in the root directory of the website and I'm using
ASP.NET Development Server. (I'm not in a position to install IIS on
this machine)

When moved everything over to the master page, the images/stylesheets
weren't showing up in the design mode or in the debug mode. I was
pulling my hair out trying to fix this and I finally found a solution
by moving things around... I right-clicked on my project name in the
solution explorer and clicked on Add New ASP.NET Folder -> Theme. I
moved all my images and stylesheets there, updated the paths, and the
images/stylesheets showed up in my design time view!!! I JUST WISH MS
WOULD HAVE BEEN MORE CLEAR ABOUT THIS OR ATLEAST PUBLISHED THIS
SOMEWHERE ON THE WEB SO I WOULDN'T HAVE TO FIGURE THIS OUT FOR MYSELF.

Problem solved... or so I thought. I proceeded to debug mode and
Internet explorer sure enough comes up. Internet explorer now shows a
plain white page... nothing is being rendered. I view the source of the
page and sure enough the code is there... I copy and paste the View ->
Source code to notepad and save it as an HTML file and try to run the
HTML file. Internet explorer gives an information bar saying that it
blocked active content, I Allow blocked content and still nothing.
HOWEVER, the page works fine in Firefox in debug mode or otherwise?!?

Obviously, this is something to do with some setting on IE... could
someone please let me know what needs to be changed.
