error installing microsoft.NET

[microtcpip]

A Have a box with Enterprise SP1 and I am trying for two days now to
install the microsoft.NET I get error 25015
c:\windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Micr osoft.VisualBasic.vsa.dll
because of system error: The device is not ready.

I am login as admin, the server has the latest installer and I even
tried the dotnetfix_cleanup_tool

Any help?

Here's a couple of possibilities :

1. You are not logged in as an admin

2. You are running Zone Alarm

Please confirm either of thos possibilities...or neither of them.

Thanks for the reply. I am login as an Admin. In fact, the first few
times I was login as the Administrator Enterprise Id, then I tried
login in as the server administrator.... no luck

The box have installed all the hot fixes 9about 25 of them), MS
office2003, Symantec corporate 10 and firefox. I was trying to install
SQL2005 which uses Microsoft.NET 2.0, but if fails.... then I tried
installing Microsoft.NET 2.0 by itself with exactly the same error as
well. Zone alarm is not install in this box.

Try disabling the Symantec services while you run the install.
Also, you can examine the setup log file from VS.NET

There's the likeliest suspect.

Symantec will silently deny access to some of the changes
needed to install the .Net Framework 2.0.
