ASP.NET 2.0 Menu control config from SiteMap

I'm having two problems with my Menu control that I'm yet to find
answers to. I am configuring my Menu control from a SiteMap data
source.

1. Those menus which are pull-downs are still selectable and trigger a
postback.

2. Some menu items are to reference an external URL that I want to open
in a blank web browser.

I've seen two apparent solutions that I've been unable to successfully
implement.
That the SiteMap file is extensible and that I can add selectable= and
target= attributes into them. I can then reference these in a template
or by using the Menu Databindings Editor. The attributes I've added to
my SiteMap are not accessible thru the Menu databindings Editor - they
do not appear in drop down lists and when I enter them manually, an
exception is thrown. When I've tried to implement a template, these
pulldown menus do not have a url= attribute and an exception is thrown.

Any help would be great.
Mike
