Yes, I can understand the concern you mentioned that it may be a bit
oversight to make the additional IIS ASP.NET version mapping setting.
However, I think this is somewhat due to the separation between our ASP.NET
application and the IIS application virtual directory/website setting. As
we know, IIS application virtual directory or website can host other raw
web applications other than ASP.NET, so it make the ASP.NET configuration
just one of the IIS virtual dir(application) setting. Also, in addition to
use web setup project, we can also simply deploy application through batch
file or script file in command line, in such scenario, it's also very
convenient to execute the aspnet_regiis command to configure the version
setting.
Anyway, I think it'll be a good feature if the webset up project can
include an option for automatically configure the version on target
application dir.
