Authentication Error

I'm running XP Pro for testing:

When placing a site in wwwroot, everytring works fine.

Now, instead of exchanging the content of wwwroot, when testing sites,
I've made a frontpage with nothing but links - and then a subfolder
for each site. E.g:

localhost/site1/default.aspx
localhost/site2/default.aspx

However, now I get an authentication error:

Parser Error Message: It is an error to use a section registered as
allowDefinition='MachineToApplication' beyond application level. This
error can be caused by a virtual directory not being configured as an
application in IIS.

on

Line 46: <authentication mode="Forms">
Copying the content of a subfolder back to wwwroot, and it works.
I've googled alot and can see alot have had similar problem. I've
tried some of the resolutions, but they don't seem to apply to me.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

DWS
Snedker,
I'm assuming you have IIS installed on your box. Start IIS manager right
click on the website folders... Make web applications.

Good Luck
