Cannot create ASP.NET WebApp project

Hi,

as I tried a lot of hints from the newsgroups archives - all without
success - I hope that somebody can help me here.

I am using Windows 2000, VS 2003 and a local IIS 5.0. Up to now I
programmed WinForms only but now I shall create a web application. And
there I suddenly faced the problem the I cannot even create a new web
app project in Visual Studio as the following error occurs:

"Visual Studio has detected that the Web server is running ASP.NET
version 1.0. ..."

As I never had VS 2002 installed I thought that I would have installed
ASP.NET 1.1 with VS 2003. So I tried to solve the problem by executing
"aspnet_regiis.exe -i". And then "aspnet_regiis.exe /i", too, as I read
that in other posts. I tried creating a Get_aspx_ver.aspx file (as
described in an MS Knowledgebase article), de- und reinstallation of IIS
(Version 5.0 from the Windows 2000 CD) followed by another
"aspnet_regiis.exe -i", but nothing worked up to now!

Does somebody know this problem and can help me, or are there other
ideas what else I could try?

I cannot even be sure that a new installation of VS would help me, as
this is what I did a while ago.
Thanks for any help!

Kind regards
Roland

Hi,

just in case I might help somebody else with the solution I found:

it had nothing at all to do with ASP.NET version or registration - it
was merely a missing "localhost" entry in the Internet Explorer proxy
bypassing settings!
As we use Mozilla Firefox instead of IE I never touched these entries -
although I thought that localhost would be a standard entry. But maybe
it got lost once when my user profile was damaged and I had to create a
new one.
