retain application variables on application restart

I can keep the session variables across application restarts by storing the
session state in StateServer (rather than inprocess). However, the
application variables are still lost!

Please would someone say if they know how to keep application variables
intact when the process restarts?

You need something outside of the ASP.NET application then... something's
that's persistent, like a database or a file on the filesystem.
