WebHost4Life

This might be slightly off-topic, so don't hate me.

I have my site hosted on www.webhost4life.com. I've had them for a
while, but I just started doing serious dev with ASP.NET 2.0.

Since I've put the site up, I've got nothing but very long delays
connecting my code to their Database servers. I thought everyone
recommended those guys as fast and reliable. So far, my experience has
been exactly the opposite, 5 days into support calls and my site is
down/slow most of the time.

Anyone know a good, fast, affordable no-nonsense host out there for
Asp.net/Sql server???

Thanks,

Alex

Mmmm, more like very off-topic!

Anyhoo, I'm with the same hosting company running an ASP.NET 2.0 app
and they've been excellent. Have you raised your concerns with the
company? They have a great help system at http://247helpme.com/.

I moved away from WebHost4Life a long time ago because of terrible service
and performance. I did some research and discovered that they offer their
low prices partly by doing the following:
1. They build their own servers using generic "no-name" OEM parts
2. No RAID
3. They run SQL Server on the same box as your Web site (IIS)
4. They load up a ton of sites per server

Most people I see recommending them are trying to get you to sign up "under
them" so they can get credit for bringing on a new customer.

You generally get what you pay for, and my experience was that
Webhost4life.com is no exception.

You can try these premium services if you're done messing around:

www.aspwebhosting.com

Thanks, MaximumASP is way too expensive for my purposes, maybe in the
future.

the other one looks pretty good, I'll do some more research.

"Most people I see recommending them are trying to get you to sign up
"under
them" so they can get credit for bringing on a new customer." - that's
a little unfair. I never mentioned any referral ID.

I genuinely know a number of people using their services - me included
- who are very happy with them. And our site and database server are
both performing well so far with very very few outages. I'm sure there
are better services but the offering from webhost4life has been great
value for money.

I use both WebHost4Life and crystaltech, both have been fine for me, however
i think i have to say i find CrystalTech a better provider, apart from their
high price, i've never had performance problems and support is good too..

Just to update, and to be fair to WH4L:

I had them upgrade me to a new set of servers, and now everything is
working perfectly. I guess the old servers can't handle ASP.NET 2.0
very well.

Everything is working great now, and I would strongly recommend those
guys (just make sure they put you on new servers).
