Can permissions be set on virtual directories using development server?

Can set the read, write, and browse directory permissions when running
a site on the local development server or do I have to publish it to
the default web sit and use IIS?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks Patrick,
In 1.1, when I created an ASP.NET applicationm I used Internet Information
Services, to set security, permissions, documents, etc. These would be set by
right-clicking on a site or a virtual directory from from within IIS and
setting the properties available on the tabs.

In 2.0, unless I publish the site, (create virtual directories using IIS), the
local folders that are used by the Development Server, (Local Web Server) are
not available in IIS so that is clearly not the tool I need to use.
