Positioning a showModalDialog based on a button's position

Hi,

Can anyone please tell me if there is a way to open a showModalDialog window
and position it so that its top and left screen co-ordinates are the same as
the top and left screen co-ordinates of the button which opened it?

I've tried all sorts of combinations of left, offsetLeft, pixelLeft,
window.event.x, window.event.y etc, but have thus far been unsuccessful in
getting this to work in all occasions.

Any assistance gratefully received.
