Can i close the connection before using the reader?

Based on this info i must keep the connection open.

http://forums.asp.net/777619/ShowPost.aspx

However, from experiance it works if i close the connection before i use the
reader.
I can imagne the reader is already instructed.

Forget i asked, answer is no.
Stepping through the code says enough about the reader status(!)
