try a static variable or anything global in scope possibly placed in the
application object. If the variable is local to the page, another page will
not be able to obtain a reference to it.

I have successfully started a new thread that is performing a long
task. I am using C# and am fairly new to it and am wondering, where do
I store a reference to that running thread? I want to have another
page come in later and check on the status and to be able to stop that
thread.
Thanks.
