Links that point to files

Hi all

I'm building an ASP.NET website and I plan to provide searching facilities
for files. Results will be displayed in the form of links. Does anyone know
how to make the ascossiated application open automatically when a user
clicks a link? (for example the link points to a .doc file, how can I make
the client's computer start word and display the file automatically?)

Right-clicking the link and selecting 'Save as' does the trick, but I also
want to provide the above feature. Please help.

Thanks.

Reymond,

That would be up to the client computer. For example you can set adobe
acrobat reader to open .pdf files automatically, but you may also turn that
function off. I think it would be a security breach to override that...
