Removing Non-Printable Character Data

Does anyone have a useful function or idea that they could share on how to
clean your data to prevent non-printable and non-displayable characters from
being processed? I need a way to clean my data when I receive it.
Basically I plan on replacing these types of characters with space but want
to make sure I do it correctly.

Thanks,

Matt
