button with runat = server changes its border thickness

PJ6
The look of the site I'm designing at the moment has all buttons with a 1px
solid border. They look good except if a button is runat = server... if a
different control takes focus (from a user click) after the page loads, the
button's border (only one if there is more than one) thickens to 3px. It's
ugly. Is there a setting or style that can override this thickening?

Why don't you set CSS on it by using CSSClass property

I am already using a CSS to set the border style. What does that have to do
with my question?
