Indexing Service with ASP.net, Catalog on IIS Server or FileServer

Hi,

I want to know, what will be a good solution to have indexing on a site.
I want to provide users ability to search for documents on a fileserver, on
the same network. IIS is running on server1 and files are located on server2.

Should I place the catalog on IIS server - server1, (using a mapped network
drive to point to server2) or should I create the catalog on the
fileserver-server2, and provide the search results through a webservice?

Thanks.
