advisable to configure server extensions ?

XP Pro SP2 , IIS 6.0 , various virtual webs already created with web-apps
running against those virtual webs :

I notice that on the

IIS > Default Web Site > Properties > Server Extensions tab :

it says :

"This web is running an old version of the server extensions. To update the
Server Extensions, choose Upgrade Extensions from the Task menu for this
server."

If I invoke

Action > All Tasks > Configure Server Extensions

this will start-up a wizard which first wants creates a number of local
security groups.
