access denied... n00b question

Check the Windows security settings on the folder that your XML file is in.
Try allow your ASPNET security access to that folder.

(i.e.
Through Windows FIle Explorer, right click on the folder and click
"sharing and security" - or properties
Click on the Security tab, and add your ASPNET user account ensuring to
allow it read/write access)
