How is the problem with the memory stick related to downloading the
framework?

Hi,

This is certainly not a question to be here :-)
anyway, Install the correct drivers for the Memory stick
and also update any drivers for the operating system (if needed).

the OS should detect the USB stick as you plug it in and viola! you get a
new drive in you "My computer".
