Returning an HTTP error from a page

I have a status page that I want to return an http error (e.g. 500) depending
on the internal status of my application.

It seems that I should be able to do this with Response.AppendHeader, but I
can't find any specifics.

Thanks

FYI, I want to return a real http error, instead of something human readable,
beacuse I want to monitor this page with a program that already understands
http errors.
