Adding Emoticons to page

I would like to add some features to a Discussion Board for example
Emoticons..
What i want to do is that the user would click on the image and by using
javascript it will add for example ":-)" to the TextBox which represent
a smiley image for example...
But i would i render the image after psoting the message?
