As for the asp.net2(whidbey), currently since it's still under beta, there
haven't been much real world best practices or existing templates.
There is some exsting document and samples, walkthrough on the MSDN whidbey
beta site,

You can have a look there. In addition, from a general view, the asp.net
2.0 provide good many of new features, however most of these can also be
done in asp.net 1.1 , and asp.net 2.0 makes that much easier and better.
