Ecommerce Sub Categories

I'm learning the Ecommerce example from www.asp.net and would like to
know a way to use sub categories in this application. Does anyone know
of a good example site and sample code to explain this without going
into Dot Net Nuke?

I have seen the expanding tree view on some sites, but I think I would
want something more suitable for several categories and thousands of
parts.

Suggestions appreciated.
