Online development of ASP.net pages

Are there any websites that enable you to develop and test ASP.net
pages ONLINE?

I am currently travelling and without access to the same computer.
Consequently I am using Internet cafes with all the locking down that
entails. I would ideally like to use Visual Studio, Microsoft Access
with my pages served up by IIS 6. However, with no fixed computer I
can't buy and install any of this stuff. Are there any Terminal like
services on the web I could use from any Internet cafe in the world?
Kind regards

By coincidence, I'm currently on hiatus in the South Pacific, hopping
Internet cafes as well. I'm not aware of any web-based IDE's, certainly
nothing adequate for a professional code cruncher. However you could lease
a virtual workstation, set it up as a development machine, and access it
remotely via RDP / Terminal Services. A bit latent but it might work, and
would definately have all the tools you need.

A better approach would be to invest in a good laptop and an MSDN
subscription. I use a Sony VAIO as my development machine, and a Tablet PC
for documentation / research / modelling / videoconf / etc.

For more power at less $, consider a Shuttle PC, and carrying case.

Or a Gigabyte mini PC; these things are stunningly small, but have no
expansion slots.

As a side note; my experience so far is that WiFi hasn't taken hold in much
of the rest of the world. However, many cafes can be convinced to let you
connect directly. Be nice and they might loan you the monitor, keyboard,
and mouse too. Be adaptable; you'll find a way to make it all work.

There is one, and it doesn't cost you a thing, as long as your OS is already
either Windows 2000 Pro or Windows XP Pro. That would be your laptop or
tablet PC, running IIS. Windows 2000 Pro and Windows XP Pro both come with
IIS. The difference between testing a web using HTTP and IIS on a local
machine and a remote server is that you don't need an Internet connection to
connect to your local web server. Oh, yes, that and nothing else.

Hi James,

You could try this:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/tryit/

I think it runs through your web browser. However I'm not sure about how
you would post what you made to a host or anything like that. You'd
probablly have to pay then. Good luck! Ken.
