Controls Do Not Show Up IN VS.NET UI

Working in VS.Net, If I create and ASP.Net table and place ASP.Net controls
into this table, I can not accesses these controls property values when I am
in the design mode. The controls are rendered by the UI in Design mode, but
if I click on any of them, I get the propery of the ASP.Net Table and not the
control that I clicked on. In addition, if I bring up the propery window and
use the drop down control to navigate through all the controls on the form,
those controls do not show up their either.

If I put those control into a normal HTML table, them I can click on the
control and look at the property.

Is this a normal behavior? How can I get to the properties of the controls
which are in a ASP.Net Table control?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
