pre-compile error

I deployed my ASP.NET site to another server, and am getting an error "The
file '/default.aspx' has not been pre-compiled, and cannot be requested.".

I have deployed my web app before, and have never encountered this problem
on the development machine or the deployed-to server. The application still
works on my localhost box. Has anyone here seen this before?
