Alex,
ASP & ASP.NET run with a very different mechanism underneath. Yes you can
have a mix of both but they wont talk to each other atleast not that easily.
If you must continue using asp pages then you should use them within
IFrames.
I would suggest writing it in ASP.NET. You will have to re-write your asp
controls (I presume you are using DTC) to the ones that meet the requirement
in asp.net
you can write them as user controls which are less complex or you could
choose to create custom web controls.
ASP.NET should be around for a while. what you will see in future is a
matured framework. Which will make it easier for a programmer to implement
the business logic than having to worry so much about the spade work.
Good luck porting.

I have a website that is written in ASP. I feel pretty comfortable with
ASP.NET since I work with it daily. My question is about porting the ASP
site over to ASP.NET.
1.) If I port the ASP site to ASP.NET, can I then write functionality in
ASP.NET that can interact with existing ASP controls, or must I change the
ASP controls to be ASPX/ASCX?
I have a scenario that has two options, the first being I need to add ASP
functionality to my ASP site, and the second is the port of the ASP site to
ASP.NET. What is a good approach to this scenario? Should I add the ASP
functionality so the site has that, then port the site to ASP.NET? Should I
port the ASP site to ASP.NET, and then add my functionality needed for the
ASP site in ASPX/ASCX? Will the latter work?
Thanks for the help,
-Alex
