xmlHTTP and defining an ASP.Net responder

I will first admit that I'm a novice with ASP.Net.

As I've searched, the examples I've found with xmlHTTP involve a distinct
page setup specifically to handle the request. However, can I define a
method/event/whatever in an existing class/page that will respond to an HTTP
request?

The whole purpose of an ASP.NET page is to respond to an HTTP request...
