Programmatically changing the app mappings in IIS?

I was wondering if there is any way to programmatically changethe app mappings in IIS? It's easy enough to add a new appmapping by simply going to the IIS snap-in, and in the HomeDirectory property page just clicking the configurationbutton... But is there any way to do this programatically?

I know the settings are stored in the MetaBase.bin file in the%system32%\inetsrv directory, but I can't find a good way toedit that, either :(

Any help would be appreciated!
