client-side server-side intreaction

Hi,

I'm writing a C# asp.net web application. I am using a web service that
returns data which I bind to a datagrid. Since it takes some time for the
data to arrive, I want to show an animated gif in the meanwhile and to hide
the empty grid. When the data is ready I want to hide the animated gif and
show the grid.
How can I do that?

Thanks,
Michael.
