global user controls and classes

Hi All,

In the scenario of an Intranet site with some 50 applications, I am trying
to work out the best way to achieve the following:

- Global shared classes, which can be used in any application
- Ditto for user controls

Things I'm not clear on are:

- How to achieve the above
- Do we have, 1 solution file, then multiple projects within it, or a
solution file for each application, or 1 solution, with 1 project that does
everything?
- I remember from the course I recently did, the guy mentioned the global
assemmbly cache - Is this where our shared classes go? Are these then
available to all ASPX pages on the server?

I know this is all a bit vague! Hope someone can advise.

Regards,

Simon.
