Freeze column(s) in a Datagrid

Has anyone achieve freezing column(s) in a datagrid or datalist, without the use of 3rd party component

www.aspnetpro.com has a section entitled freeze the header scroll the grid
by dino esposito. have a look at it. it is .net code without 3rd party
components
