Dont have a complete answer but here are some suggestions:-
- Look at the task manager as you get IE to contact your site. Does the
aspnet_wp.exe service start consuming memory and does it take up a majority
of CPU resources? Try manually killing it and see what happens.
- Any entries i nthe Application event log that may provide hints?
- Try re-running 'aspnet_regiis -i' from a command prompt in the
c:\windows\Microsoft.net\framework\v1.1.4322 directory to re-register
ASP.NET and see if that fixes anything.

Hello, I am running VS.Net on a Windows XP machine. I had to bring down
my machine by turning it off, because it would not come down otherwise. When
I brought it back up, VS.Net locks up when I try to retrieve an ASP.Net
application, it says "Contacting server to open web project xxxx". I used
IE to directly access my application and IE never comes back.
What might be the problem and How do I recover from this?
Thanks in advance for your assistance!!!
