Pulling an Excel file and putting into a SQL DB?

I pretty much have the code for dropping into a SQL DB I also have the code
for pulling a file using an ASPX page but I am a little fuzzy on the
methodology of how the complete process would work. In other words I was
going to simply have the user select the local spreadsheet and then write
that to a temp folder on the server, and then I relized what I really need
to do is have this done all in one shot. Select the local file and then
directly proceed to writing this to the database. But how do I do this? As
som sort of stream?
