Updating Database via Textbox input

Hello

I'm new to ASP.NET and am working on a web page where I have several textboxes that are bound to a table in a dataset. I'm able to query my SQL database, use a SQLAdapter to fill the table in my dataset, and correctly display the data on the web page. However, now I've reached the point where I need to allow the user to edit the textboxes and then save the values back to the SQL database. Do I need to manually take the textbox values and update the record myself? Also one thing I've noticed, after I fill my table in the dataset, even though the data is displayed on the screen when I check the dataset rows it says there are none in my table (this.MyDataSet.Tables["TABLE"].Rows.Count returns 0). Any suggestions on where I'm going wrong would be great, thanks!
