Can't download from a SubDomain using a Redirect

SQL Version: 2000
OS Version: Server 2003

I've got a sub-domain (test.mydomain.com) that I use for testing. In it I've
got some un-common files available for download (.car extension) along with
some of the usual one (.zip, .doc, etc). The .zip, .doc, etc files download
without a problem but I continually get a 404 error on the .car files even
though they are there and the path is correct. BUT if I change the "test"
part of the URL to "www" the .car file is downloaded.

I've tried adding the .car as a mime type to IIS to no avail and I can't see
anything else that would cause this problem. All SubDomains are pointing to
the root directory with different host headers (depending on subdomain name)
as I'm using DotNetNuke and it redirects to the correct portal depending on
the alias.

Any help/ideas would be appreciated.

It sounds like a configuration issue to me. I am not familiar with DotNetNuke. Maybe you can try their discussion group too. Anyway, what will
happen if you open inetmgr and right click the file you want to download and
select browse? (all done inside inetmgr)
What happens if you setup a similar structure but without using .net nuke? Can you still download the .car file that way?
Sorry to ask back questions. But that could be the path you can try.

HTH

Thanks HTH

I've also posted on the DNN discussion group as well but it really starting
to look like an IIS issue. Browsing to it thru inetmgr gives me the same
result (works off the main site but not the subdomain but other files (.zips
for example) work fine off either.

It's starting to look like I'm going to have to hack my Response.Redirect so
that it points to the www URL instead of the subdomain.
