Fire text_changed when popup cause the change

H
I have a lookup table in a popup menu. A click on the table(datagrid) will force a value on a field on the opener window
But I want that the forced field will behave as a text_chnged Event. What is the right way to do it
I submmited the opener from the popup, but I'm not sure it's the right way
May be I can call the client side function "__doPostBack(eventTarget, eventArgument)"? do I have an access to values taht satisfy the 2 arguments of that function
May be another way to raise the event?
