Authorization and Profile Block - database quickstart?

Does anyone know of any articles that show how to implement a custom
authorization provider with the Authorization and Profile Block from
MS (http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/de...hpro_ch_03.asp)
using a database as the storage mechanism for users, roles, etc,
instead of Active Directory or the xml sample provided?

Sincerely,

Bryan Ax
