Adding SelectedIndexChanged event to dropdownlist

I want to add a SelectedIndexChanged event to a dropdownlist dynamically,
after the user clicks on a button. In this button's onclick routine, I'm
able to do:

dropTest.AutoPostBack = "True"

But it won't let me do:

dropTest.OnSelectedIndexChanged = "routine"

How am I supposed to accomplish this?
