validateRequest directive

I think using a form without validateRequest=false is almost
impossible because the users will use < or > chars sometime, for sure.
for example:

<my*****@myaddr.com> in the text box, etc...

just wondering, what security problem does validateRequest=false
cause?

Thanks.
