aspnet filter failed to load

Tim
I recently installed the .NET Framework v1.1.4322 on a web server that had v1.0.3705 on it. I followed the instructions in the ReadMe file. I've created an ASP.NET app in VS.NET 2003 (on a different machine) and moved all necessary files onto the web server (running Windows 2000 Server sp4), created a virtual directory, etc.

I can't get any aspx pages to open (I can open asp, htm, etc). Even a simple "Hello World" aspx page won't execute. The return response in IE is "The page cannot be displayed (HTTP 500). I've checked permissions and made sure the application mappings are correct (pointing to v1.1.4322). I also ran aspnet_regiis -s just in case. When I check the Event Log on the web server, however, I see the following error description

"The HTTP Filter DLL C:\WINNT\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.0.3705\aspnet_ filter.dll failed to load. The data is the error.

The 1.0.3705 version isn't even on the server anymore. The folder to v1.0.3705 DOES exist still, but only has the following four files in it: installutil.exe.config, mscormmc.cfg, mscormmc.dll, regsvcs.exe.rtm.config. I also noticed in the properties box for the default web site, under the ISAPI filters tab, that the only filter listed was "exchfilt". I added "ASP.NET_1.1.4322.573" to see if that made any difference but it didn't

I'd appreciate any help in understanding what might be wrong. Thanks
Tim
