Send data to another server

Maybe, I am asking to wrong group but, here is what I need to do. If you can
direct to right direction, I will appreciated it.

I will have a web site that the user will interact. Every once in a while, I
need to send those data that has been updated to another database server
which is not linked to that web site. I can only send data through http. If
so, how would I send it and how would I receive it?

Would I use XML in this case? if so, is there a sample code somewhere?

Thank you for your help.
