LDAP/AD in Web App Network Q

My ASPX web app authenticates against Active Directory. I provide an LDAP
connection string for my application to use.

I was setting up the application on my laptop for an off site presentation.
A copy of the app with its database would be running stand alone on my
laptop. Then I realized that I couldn't authenticate because I wouldn't have
access to our Active Directory store?

What would I have to install on my laptop to have a local AD store. I'm
running XP Pro, and would prbly have to upgrade to 2000/2003 Server.

Also, how would I do this so as not to have an adverse effect on my network
when I reconnect this laptop to our network/domain.
