Submit form in iframe

I want to send some innertext from a textarea on my
document to a textarea control on a form within an iframe
and then submit the form in the document in the iframe.

I managed to get the text across using this javascript:

document.getElementById
("submitter").document.getElementById
("NewComment").innerText=document.getElementByI d
("NewComment").innerText;

where submitter is the frame ID and NewComment is the
textarea ID on the two documents

However I couldn't get the form to successfully submit. I
used the following code:

document.frames("submitter").document.forms
("frmCommentSubmit").submit();

I also tried:

document.frames("submitter").document.forms
("frmCommentSubmit").fireEvent("onsubmit");

with the onsubmit="event" set

Anyone know how this can be done?
