reformat blues with user controls

Max
I'm using user controls and keep getting errors like:
active schema does not support the element
Yet, the page runs just fine.

When I go in and make changes to the HTML I get a pop-up like:
Could not reformat the document due to line 16
And all my changes are lost and cannot be saved.
Also, all the HTML is reformatted badly, bad wrapping, etc.

What gives? Can I turn this reformat "feature" off? I'm about to go back to
NotePad !!!
